How a self taught designer ended up dressing the royal family in Dubai

Gianni Maanaki dressed the royal families of Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Qatar.

Defining real luxury as “being able to do what you love,” his sketches flow innately from his fingers. His philosophy to reveal a woman’s unique beauty is realized through personal consultation. Maanaki’s creations have a Middle Eastern influence, yet are decidedly European in design and fit. Each gown incorporates ornamentation like beading, Swarovski crystals or floral appliqués.

Whether clothing celebrities or creating an original creation for charity inspired by BMW’s exotic i8 sports coupe, each gown is a work of art for the female form. Maanaki’s own style is simple… a well-tailored sports jacket with scarf. His signature orange blossom scent Jean Paul Gautier’s Fleur du Male is a blend of freshness and sensuality, alluding to his favourite travel destination – Waikiki Beach.

If shoes make the man, then Gianni’s choice of Gucci’s classic loafers puts him in stride with the world’s most discerning gentlemen. Europe’s elite to Hollywood’s biggest names are drawn to this iconic shoe combining the comfort of a moccasin with haut monde formality. Paired with a Burberry blazer and scarf, and a Prada briefcase made of saffiano leather, Gianni models effortless style for a man on the go.

Like actor Daniel Craig (James Bond), Gianni looks distinguished in his fashion-forward Tom Ford sunglasses. Even cool minimalists need a little bling, and for Gianni that’s his iconic  B.Zero1 Bulgari pendant in 18kt. pink gold and black ceramic. Appreciating films with stellar wardrobes, perhaps it’s no surprise he chose The Devil Wears Prada as his most loved movie.

Purple orchids are Gianni’s favourite flower, a fitting choice considering his royal connections. He heads to Waikiki Beach on the Hawaiian island of Oahu when he needs downtime as it has the right balance of tropical ambiance and after-sunset nightlife.
