Mitsouko. Shalimar. L’Heure Bleue. Guerlain has gifted the world some of its most revered and best-known perfume names. Now you can get an exclusive taste — or whiff — of many of the House’s most legendary fragrances in one awe-inspiring collection. Set to launch on March 28, 2019, the Guerlain Parfumeur Boutique, Canada’s first-ever counter dedicated entirely to Guerlain fragrance, will be located inside Montreal’s Holt Renfrew Ogilvy.
The only one of its kind worldwide, this unique new concept pays tribute to the profession behind the art of perfumery: the honourable Perfumer. Eighty-eight of Guerlain’s most notable scents created since 1828 are presented in a fragrance library, organized as chapters in the history of French perfume and classified according to Guerlain’s 14 favourite raw materials, known as the “Guerlinade.” Each ingredient becomes a snapshot of Guerlain perfume masters’ journeys throughout the years — from the brand’s founder, Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain, who set out to explore Imperial Russia in search of the elusive birchessence, to Jacques Guerlain and his discovery of the hypnotic Indonesian Benzoin, to Thierry Wasser, who developed a sustainable and ethical supply channel for Indian Vetiver.
With 58 laboratory bottles on display and 25 fragrance fountains to fill the iconic “Bee” perfume bottle, the Boutique will create a fully customizable, personalised shopping experience — a nod to perfumer Jacques Guerlain, who was known for regularly coming down to the boutique at 68 Champs-Elysées to gather his customers’ feedback and opinions.
Visitors will be led through a digital consultation to find their individual olfactory profile and discover a signature scent. The process culminates in designing your very own bespoke bottle to take home: selecting from three sizes of the Bee bottle in white or gold to be filled with a chosen fragrance, tied with your choice of ribbon and even a pick of three bow styles at the neck. Adding a truly personal finishing touch, a name or message of choice in any language can be engraved on the bottle on site.
