Chinese Knot Tying Hypnotizes With Beauty

The art of Chinese knotting dates back to prehistory through archeological discoveries of bone needles, thought to be used for tying and untying knots, carbon-dated from 100,000 years ago. Initially, the function of knots was purely practical: day-to-day record-keeping, documenting important events (the more substantial the event, the more complicated the knot) and even to create a pact between two parties. But with the advent of written record-keeping, it transitioned into a decorative, symbolic artform. Jewellers today continue to use knots, imparting a little good luck along with their beautiful creations.
