Taste of Life’s fantastical feast and fundraiser at historic Casa Loma.
The storybook castle of Sir Henry Mill Pellatt was the setting for Taste of Life’s fundraising ball on December 10th, 2014. Designed with secret passages, soaring towers, luxurious stables, and a 5-acre garden in the heart of Toronto, Casa Loma pays homage to English castles and chivalrous knights.
Professionals, philanthropists and artists in formal attire mingled under a giant Christmas tree in the great hall and were then greeted by host Jason Loftus in the grand library. After the welcome toast, the Toronto Concert Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Kerry Stratton, broke into stirring strains of “Hallelujah,” followed by classic holiday songs performed by the Toronto Concert Orchestra Choir.
Guests were surprised with exquisite table prizes, each guest receiving one package as a Christmas gift: designer cosmetics from Dior and Elizabeth Arden, spa essentials and packages from Orient Retreat, ice wine from Pillitteri, silk scarves from Silk Arias, and tea by TanLong Tea. After dinner, Miss World Canada candidate Anastasia Lin hosted a door prize game: a sought-after travel case from German brand Rimowa, luxury skincare packages from top beauty brands La Prairie and Lancôme, two VIP packages to an exclusive Shen Yun Performing Arts experience. The top prize, a 5-day, 4-night shopping trip to Paris, was donated by the evening’s title sponsor, Evan Yanagi Corporation. The climax of the evening was the charity auction — proceeds benefitted the Heart and Stroke Foundation, with the highest bid item being the extravagant “Rain Drop” necklace set donated by Canadian luxury brand Feri, presented to the guests by CEO Mr. Ramin Mesgarlou.
When the music of Blue Danube filled the hall, guests were ushered into the ballroom (known as the Conservatory), where they danced until midnight. As they departed, snowflakes began drifting from the sky — the final magical note to a fairytale event.
