Its moisturizing, beautifying and anti-aging products are made from a rare species of a delicate French rose. Between stints like teaching a makeup master class at Saks Fifth Avenue and training his Chantecaille colleagues throughout Asia Pacific, Tsao dished summer tips and global trends to Taste of Life at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver. Read on to get the look that will sizzle and other can’t-miss beauty advice for summer travel.
“This season is all about defined, sophisticated eyes achieved with bold liners,” says Tsao. “Go for ocean colours like aqua or shimmery green, smooth, sophisticated shaping and a small wing where the two lines meet at the edge of the eye.”
Tsao says Asian ladies should opt for thin to medium lines around the eyes to match their skin tone and eye shape. Caucasians can go with thicker eye-lining since the trend will be toward the very bold. Finish with black mascara and the lip and cheek must-haves below.
Harvey Tsao’s guide to what should go in your carry-on
For touch ups Waterproof eyeliner in this season’s colours and waterproof mascara
For lips Mango-pink lipstick with orange undertones. Tinted lip gloss is best for lighter skin tones
For cheeks Bronzer if you tan. Just a hint of your regular blush if you don’t.
For sun protection A primer or moisturizer with SPF, applied each morning.
For skin-brightening Retinol Intense or retinol healing masks.
For moisture “Everyone needs a serum and an eye cream to help moisturizer work the magic on deeper levels,” he says. If you had room for just one product, Chantecaille’s new Creme de la Rose de Mai hydrates amazingly, smells like a warm, midsummer night’s dream and is very light on the face.
