The 34th Annual Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon, better known as the Hat Luncheon, was held in Central Park’s Conservatory Garden on May 4, 2016. The Women’s Committee and the Board of Trustees of the Central Park Conservancy hosted the luncheon.
The committee honored Stephanie & Fred Shuman, friends of the Central Park Conservancy for more than 30 years, who generously funded the recent renovation of the Reservoir running track. The track was renamed The Stephanie and Fred Shuman Running Track in their honor and dedicated to the children of New York.
More than 1,200 guests attended the luncheon, all wearing unique, fashionable and colorful hats. Michael Bloomberg, Martha Stewart, Fe Fendi, Jenny Paulson, Bonnie Comley, Stewart F. Lane, and Jean Sharfiroff were among the guests.
The event raised nearly $3.9 million for the Central Park Conservancy to support park maintenance, restoration, and enhancement.
The mission of the Central Park Conservancy, a nonprofit organization founded in 1980, is to restore, manage, and enhance Central Park in partnership with the public, for the enjoyment of all. Central Park Conservancy raises 75 percent of the annual budget essential to keeping Central Park beautiful.
