Francesca Amfitheatrof, Tiffany & Co.’s Design Director, lives in the Big Apple but, above all, is a citizen of the world. Growing up abroad, Amfitheatrof learned about Asian art’s sensitivity to form and its pared down, clean aesthetic; Italy’s unending beauty and craftsmanship have stayed with her always. So a jewelry collection à la Manhattan, the place where it all comes together, was only natural.

“T pays homage to the Tiffany name, but it also has a verticality and angularity that I associate with the energy and intensity of New York,” she told Taste of Life. “This is a place of courage and reinvention that constantly sparks creativity.”

To keep up with the crackling energy, Amfitheatrof takes sustenance at restaurants like Gemma at the Bowery Hotel or Ariake at The Shilla Hotel in Seoul. On the next page, see how fabulously she curates her life thanks to her jeweller’s eye and artist’s spirit.

Francesca’s Picks

“It’s all about layering,” Amfitheatrof said about wearing her latest line of jewelry, Tiffany T.

David Austin roses, her favourite, look as if they will never wither.

This dress from London-based Preen, one of her go-to labels, is powerful and simple.

While gathering inspiration throughout New York’s parks and sidewalks, Amfitheatrof only needs her fold-over colour block Tiffany Serena leather clutch and her artistic sensibilities.

She loves shoe brand Aquazzura whose “it” shoe has a waiting list all around the globe thanks to its seasonless, modern and incredibly comfortable shape.

One of Amfitheatrof’s favorite hiding spots is the Banyan Tree Hotel in Seoul, Korea, located far from any hustle-bustle.

Amfitheatrof called this creation of hers for Muriel Brandolini the Unique Butterfly Table, made from silver- and gold-plated brass.

The Le Labo Grasse New York candle has 62 ingredients in it, all GMO-free and entirely vegan.

Amfitheatrof’s favourite book is Tom Wolfe’s From Bauhaus to Our House which makes a controversial argument for ornamented architecture.
